Introduction. Handball, as a team sport, has undergone a long period of historical development and reached a high degree of perfection. Indicators of competitive activity are the main components of their preparation for competitions and realization of their capabilities. The information obtained provides an opportunity to further adjust the training process to increase the efficiency of competitive activities.
The purpose of the work is to analyze the results of the competitive activity of the “MOTOR” handball club in the matches of the Champions League European cup tournament.
Material and methods: the game of HC “Motor” and their opponents in the Champions League of the 2015/2016 – 2022/2023 seasons was analyzed using methods of analysis and comparison. Mathematical statistics methods were used to calculate quantitative and average values of indicators and their effectiveness.
Research results. HC “Motor” met with 27 HC from 16 European countries; the most opponents were the HC of France – 7 times, 5 times – Hungary and Denmark, 4 times – Portugal and Germany; 71.4% to 86.4% of the players in the declared lineup threw balls into their opponents’ goal; the productive game of the “Motor” handball club (72 goals) was in the winning and (76 goals) lost matches; high performance indicators in the match (36 goals each) in the group stage of the Champions League, as well as in the play-off stage (39 goals): the biggest victories with a difference of “+13 goals” in the group stage match and “+2 goals” – playoff stage; the handball players of HC “Motor” have from 2 to 7 goals in their assets, which they threw into the opponents’ goal in a row in winning and losing matches.
Conclusions. The results of competitive activities testify to the nature of sports fighting at the tournament, the integration of the style of play of one’s opponents into the game of one’s team. The obtained results of handball players can be characterized as unstable. The results of matches can be used in practice to improve individual and team play, to compare their relationship with the team rating of opponents.
