Policy of safety and protection of athletes from persecution and ill-treatment in sports

Introduction and purpose of the study. The article examines the main aspects of security and protection policy regarding harassment and ill-treatment of athletes in the world and in Ukraine. The current state of development and formation of the athlete safety and protection policy in the context of the international sports movement was analyzed. Identifying the role and influence of the International Olympic Committee on the process of formation and development of athletes’ safety policy became a topical issue of the research. An important research issue was the analysis of the stages of implementation and realization of the functioning of the policy of protecting athletes from harassment and ill-treatment in sports at all levels.
The article emphasizes the importance of developing unified approaches to ensuring the rights and freedoms of athletes in the context of harassment and ill-treatment. For the effective functioning of the security system, it is important to receive continuous feedback both from sports federations and organizations, and from the athletes themselves. The question of the effectiveness of the safety and protection policy of athletes is one of the most important questions of the research. That is why the main efficiency criteria, as well as factors that influence their functioning, are indicated in the article.
The objective of ensuring safety for all participants of the international sports movement is now one of the most important for the modern democratic world, which strives for equality and loyalty. The safety of athletes is an integral part of this process, since the center of the sport is the athlete.
The goal is to investigate the current state of realization of security policy and protection of athletes from harassment and abuse in sports.
Research methods. During the work on the research, historical-logical and chronological methods were used to analyze changes and formation of safety protocols in sports in the context of the development of technologies, sports and society as a whole. The comparative method was used to compare safety instructions for athletes from different countries, as well as sports events at different levels of organization. The system analysis method served as a basis for a comprehensive assessment of all theoretical and practical developments in the field of safety in sports, which made it possible to generalize previous experience.
The results. The current state of the athlete safety policy in sports in the context of the international sports movement is analyzed. The role and place of the International Olympic Committee in the formation and implementation of the security policy in sports is revealed. The main criteria for the effectiveness of security policy implementation in Ukraine and the world are defined.
Conclusions. It has been established that the issues of sports safety in general are becoming more and more relevant in the modern world in the context of new challenges that have appeared before the international sports movement in recent years. The safety and protection of athletes is an important factor in the effectiveness of their activities at all stages of sports improvement. The availability of unified approaches to ensure the safety and protection of athletes from harassment and ill-treatment is of critical importance in the formulation of policy in general.
