Modern analysis of competitive activity of national volleyball team players

Abstract

Introduction. An effective system of training in volleyball is impossible without taking into account modern world trends, where the most important importance should be given to the features of the structure of the competitive activity of the leading national teams of the world. The analysis of the efficiency of technical and tactical actions will allow to substantiate scientific and methodological approaches to determining the relationships between them.

The purpose of the work is to the research is to define quantitative and qualitative parameters of competitive activity of highly skilled volleyball players in the international system of competitions.

Material and Methods: The analysis of the competitive activity of the world’s leading women’s national volleyball teams was carried out based on the results of 270 games in the most significant commercial start of the Nations League in 2023-2024. We analyzed 159937 technical and tactical actions performed by the volleyball players of the world national teams. Methods of mathematical statistics were used to determine the statistical indicators of the parameters of competitive activity, including: mean value, standard square deviation, coefficient of variation, median, volume and efficiency of technical and tactical actions.

The results of the research. The analysis of the competitive activity of volleyball players of the leading national teams of the world on results of performance in Nations League allowed to establish a correlation between indicators of volume and efficiency of technical and tactical actions. The highest indicators of volume are traced in the performance of attacking strokes (25.4%), ball passes (22.9%) and serves (16.0%), efficiency – attacking stroke (10.7%), defensive actions (10.2%) and block (4.3%, respectively). The correlation analysis of technical and tactical actions of highly skilled volleyball players allowed to define the closest interconnections of their efficiency. Thus, the closest correlations are observed between the efficiency of passing and attacking stroke (r=0.481), attacking stroke and block (r=0.404); attacking stroke and serve (r=0.383), that confirms an emphasis of a system of preparation in volleyball on attacking actions and selection in national teams of players of an attacking plan with a high level of potential opportunities.

Conclusions. The analysis of competitive activity of volleyball players of national teams of the world in the international system of competitions testifies that in modern volleyball the most important value is given to efficiency of attacking actions as the main component influencing on success of performance in competitions. Therefore, the main global trend is the formation of a team by attacking players with high performance indicators.
