Introduction. The transition to distance learning has had a negative impact on the quality of teaching a significant number of educational disciplines, especially those that contain a practical component and involve the formation of professional skills and abilities in future specialists. Physical education should also be included in the disciplines, the teaching of which is significantly complicated in the conditions of distance learning. Specialists point out that distance learning had a negative impact on the teaching of the practical component of the “Physical Education” discipline, led to a significant decrease in the health-improving effect of classes, a decrease in the number of students involved in physical education and sports activities during extracurricular hours, and, accordingly, to a decrease in the motor activity of students young people. Such a situation requires scientists to determine directions for improving physical education in institutions of higher education, to develop a system of measures that meet today’s challenges and can ensure the effectiveness of the educational process even in the modern complex circumstances of its organization.
The purpose of the research: to determine the ways of improving the physical education of students in the modern conditions of the organization of the educational process. The purpose of the research: to determine the ways of improving the physical education of students in the modern conditions of the organization of the educational process.
Research methods: analysis, generalization and systematization of scientific and methodical literature data; pedagogical observation, questionnaires, pedagogical testing; method of expert assessment, methods of mathematical statistics.
Research results. As a result of the conducted research, the following directions for improving physical education in higher education institutions were determined: ensuring the appropriate level of motor activity of students due to the complex use of various forms of organization of classes; improvement of theoretical and methodical training of students in the system of physical education; introduction of modern types of motor activity; application of modern methods of teaching and education; computerization and digitization of physical education; development of physical culture and health and sports and mass work; improvement of software and regulatory support for physical education of students taking into account the requirements of professional activity; professional development of teachers.
